The Lady Indians don’t have their sights set quite as high this season, but when the dust settles they still expect to make the league playoffs.
Coach Dean Smith notes the Lady Indians graduated some high-powered talent from last season–league MVP Mandi Krueger and all-league pitcher Cassidy Klippel to name two–but that the team still returns strong.
“The rest of the league thinks we are down, but we intend to have a playoff spot,” the fourth-year coach said.
“We’ll compete. We’re solid at pitcher,” he added.
His returning pitchers include senior Kyrie Stevens, juniors Cassie Foltz and Katie Hoyt, and possibly Ashley Witt, a freshman. The freshman will swing some, probably during spring break.
Smith hadn’t sorted out all the positions, but players on the team include: Cassie Galey, a junior; Leslie Hancock, a junior; Kennedy Bailey, a sophomore; Alli Linnell, a sophomore; Cassidy Hoglund, a sophomore; Amara Templin, a sophomore; Molly Kemp, a junior; Molly Reardon, a junior; and BreAnna Johnson, a junior.
