St. Helens swimmers break 1996 record

Shortly after a gutsy, winning performance at at district championships on Saturday, Feb. 13, the St. Helens girls 200 meter medley swim team delivered a powerful fourth-place performance at state championships.

And, they shaved enough time overall to shatter a school record going back to 1996 by three seconds.

The team consisted of Chelsea Collson, Amy Gainer, Kaitlyn Stroda and Theresa Quennoz.

Other results include:

Adena Fenrich placed tenth in the 200 meter free swim

Chelsea Collson placed ninth in the 50-meter free and tenth in the 100-meter back stroke

Kaitlyn Stroda placed tenth in the 100-meter fly

Chelsea Collson, Adena Fenrich, Amy Gainer and Theresa Quennoz placed seventh in the 200-meter free relay
