Lewis’ Taekwondo qualified 18 athletes for nationals at the Oregon State Champion-ships on Jan. 16.

It’s the largest contingent the local group has ever qualified. Last year “Team Lewis” sent 10 players to Austin, Texas against a field of 3,000 and came home with 10 gold, ninw ailver and three Bronze medals.

Some of the returning team members–Arden Jones, who had 16 match ups, Stephanie Toney who had 14 match ups and Alex Masog, who had nine match ups–all won double gold medals in their divisions in Austin.

The National Full Contact Championships are in Orlando, Fla., June 28-July 5.

With six Level 1 National coaches the team will be ready for this competition, which, since it’s so close to Disney World, promises to be a big one.
