Scappoose, Seaside, and Taft each had their moments in a double dual meet at Seaside on Thursday.
All three teams are in the same special swim district. Swimmers competed overall and the meet was scored as a dual against each of the other two teams.
Seaside’s boys dominated the meet, easily handling Scappoose and Taft, while Scappoose had their best of the meet against Taft.
On the girls’ side, Scappoose had a slim win over Seaside (86-80), but Taft had an even slimmer win over Scappoose (84-82). Taft also edged Seaside, 88-80
Top efforts for the Scappoose girls overall included: a win in the 50 free by Courtney Alvarez; a first by Cassandra Miltich in the 100 free and a second in the 200; second by Rona Schmellen-kamp in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breast; and a second by Rachel Rafferty in the 100 back. For the boys, Ryan Rafferty won the 100 breast and was second in the 100 fly, Kyle Claridge won the 100 back, and Will Taylor had thirds in both the 50 and 100 free.
Scappoose hosted Tillamook at the Eisenschmidt Pool in St. Helens on Tuesday. On Friday, Feb. 5 they will host the Cowapa League Championships, also at the St. Helens pool.
