ADVERTISEMENTS
The Lady Indians bounced back from a halftime deficit against Astoria on Friday night in Scappoose, but in the end fell three-points short in a 37-34 loss.
The two teams had just a field goal apiece in a low-scoring first period and were knotted at four-all. The game was still tied, 11-11 midway through the second period, then Astoria went on a nine-point run. A buzzer-beating three by Andi Bartle cut the margin to three at halftime, 21-14.
Bartle would score six of her 13 points in the third period, and Scappoose was behind by only six going into the final period. The Lady Indians made a run at Astoria, holding them to just five points, while scoring eight, but it was not enough.
The Lady Indians have just one win in the league thus far, but will try to get back on the winning side of things this week, hosting Banks on Tuesday and Tillamook on Thursday.
Next week, they travel to Seaside on Tuesday and host Yamhill-Carlton on Friday.
