Building on a theme of “One Community, One Voice,” the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and awards banquet at Scappoose Creek Inn on Thursday, Feb. 18.
Guest speakers for the evening included local politicians and officials and Miss Oregon CC Barber, from Scappoose, even showed up as a surprise guest.
The meeting was also a forum to distribute this year’s chamber awards. The Henry Knighton Award (First Citizen of St. Helens) was awarded to Henry Heimuller. Jeff Kemp, owner of Pacific Stainless, received Business of the Year. Oregon Hill Farms took home the Swep Morton Jr. Award, a decision made by Ken Gates (far right) as the chairman of the chamber board.
Jeff Kemp additionally received the Kiwanis Club of St. Helens Distinguished Service Award.
Educator of the Year Awards for the Scappoose and St. Helens school districts went to Christine Stetzer and Nancy Bubl, respectively.
